Time Word + Subject + Verb, Main Clause
(These words show the order of events)

When I arrive, I will call you.

He went home after the meeting finished.

I‘ll text you as soon as I‘m on the train.


Meanings

Do NOT use future tenses (will) in the time clause.

When the main clause refers to the future, we use a present tense (e.g., Present Simple) in the clause with the time word.

  • ✔ I will call you when I get home.
  • I will call you when I will get home.
  • ✔ She will be ready before you arrive.
  • She will be ready before you will arrive.
