Meanings

The basic rule for some and any.

  • Use some in positive (+) sentences.
    I have some news.
  • Use any in negative (-) and question (?) sentences.
    I don’t have any news. Do you have any news?
  • Exception: Use some in questions that are offers or requests.
    Would you like some coffee?
